K.I.S.S. for Guitar Ensemble
|
Product Number: 1012004125
Series: Guitar Ensemble
Pages: 8
Description: I originally put this together this for my advanced guitar ensemble but the rest of the groups started grabbing it out of the bin and insisting that we "Try" it. We have played this with combined guitar ensembles at least three times now and it always seems to work. One student plays electric guitar and solos at the "C" section Another student plays bass guitar and eventually we hope to do a version with a drum set. This is the kind of song that students seem to come in and practice on their own and it has precipitated many jam sessions. I use this song to encourage students to transition from the point where they are playing "riffs" over and over again, to the place where they understand that you need to play the entire song to have credibility as a player.

Kabuki Doll for Guitar Ensemble
|
Product Number: 1012000529
Series: Guitar Ensemble
Pages: 1
Description: This is a late first year to early second year piece I put together because I had already used another piece I wrote that addressed the Pentatonic Scale the year before. It is important to have three to four years of material built up so my students aren't looking at the same music. Parents often have students who are close together in classes as well so it's good to have a wide variety of material available whenever possible.

Kemps Jig for Guitar Ensemble
|
Product Number: 1012004148
Series: Guitar Ensemble
Pages: 4
Description: This is a two page chart, with and without shorthand notation. I wrote this up a few months ago, without any real hope of ever using it after I got done. I needed something in a hurry this morning however, so I gave it to my students and they actually liked it. It is written in half time for beginning players, so it is a bit deceptive. The tune is probably from the Medieval era and is written by the famous immortal tune-smith A. Nonny Mouse. Enjoy. (Updated on April 14, 2010)

Pages: 2
Description: This is a late first year to early second year piece in the key of E Major. Knick Knack for Beginning Strings
|
Product Number: 1012000494
Series: String Method
Pages: 1
Description: Another one page sheet with all parts on the same page. There are two parts for Violin, Viola and Cello. I haven't had any string Basses, but they can read off the Cello part with no difficulty. Encourage students to learn both parts, play the song twice and tell them to switch parts. Ask the Cellos to play part one and everyone else to play part two? How many other ways can you play this and use it to get more variety?

This lively song always provokes discussion and when the students have mastered it, you can tell them that they are also singing in harmony!

Series: Guitar Solo
Pages: 2

Korobushka For Guitar Ensemble
|
Product Number: 1012000363
Series: Guitar Ensemble
Pages: 1
Description: One of my students asked me to write this out and when they ask, I listen. It is always good to get feedback from students and they tend to put more energy into songs that they actually want to learn. This is more than just a Russian Folk Song though. It is also featured prominently in one of the levels of a famous video game. (Tetris) This is published with and without shorthand notation. Hope you enjoy it as much as my students (and their audiences) do.

Kumbayah For Recorder Ensemble
|
Product Number: 1013000163
Series: Recorder Ensemble
Pages: 2
Description: This is just a one part melody that we put together so the Recorders can play along with the guitars. We always do two of three combined songs at the end of each show. It gives the younger students the feeling that they are playing with the older students, which is kind of an honor. It also makes for a great finale, and most importantly, nobody gets up and goes home in the middle of the concert because their student is done and they have stuff to do! Hope this works out as well for you too.
